Transformative Education for Global Health Equity
Education of health professionals can create “experts” or even “professionals.” But how can medical professionals be transformed as social change leaders in shaping the health care system? And what is the role of social justice in medical education? Those are the challenges that Professor Lincoln Chen will examine in this lecture.
Professor Chen was the Taro Takemi Professor of International Health Policy at Harvard School of Public Health, and Director of the university-wide Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies (1987-1996).
As Co-Chair of the “Lancet Commission on Medical Education for the 21st Century,” Professor Chen will describe a century of movements in medical education since the 1910 Flexner Report, our current threshold, and point to the frontiers of medical education for the 21st century. .
